Archery is for everyone. It doesn’t matter if you are 12 or 72, man or woman, in a wheelchair, blind, deaf, or an athlete. Bows and arrows were invented for hunting and for war, they are lethal weapons, and yet in practice it is an extremely safe sport with an excellent safety record.
In the UK archery is governed by the Grand National Archery Society, which uses the trading name ArcheryGB. Below this there are regional organisations, in our case the Scottish Archery Association. Then there are the local clubs where the shooting takes place, and where training is provided. Because we are using weapons, it is essential for everyone who takes up the sport to first complete a beginner’s course. The emphasis on this course is range safety, but students are also taken through the fundamentals of good form and advised on buying equipment.
Please contact the secretary using the contact form if you would be interested in taking a course of shooting with us.
